In my last post I talked about setting #yogagoals. Now, let’s get down to business and talk about how you can transform these into reality. Maybe you’ve decided to learn a new posture, or devote more time to meditation, or share the beauty of yoga with someone by being their yoga buddy. Whatever the goal, these 4 tips will help you make it happen:

Ask your teacher

We’re here to help. Whether you’re trying to perfect a pose, need advice about overcoming resistance, or even suggestions for yoga gear, your teacher is willing and able to help. We especially like giving demonstrations and corrections to help you perfect difficult postures, or confidently tackle new ones.

Watch videos or read articles

Take advantage of the vast amounts of helpful, insightful information available on the internet. Videos are a great way to get inspired or learn the techniques behind challenging poses. Websites and blogs cover every aspect of the yoga experience, from nutrition to meditation to philosophy. Please share your favourite sites or articles by Tweeting @YogaWithPaul

Go step-by-step

Goals are supposed to be challenging and if you struggle you may find you are trying to do too much at once. If you want to meditate for 30 minutes every day, start with 10 and work up. If you want to eat clean 80% of the time, start by dedicating one day a week to clean eating and increasing from there. Whatever the goal, start small and give yourself permission to improve slowly and steadily.

Do it every damn day!

The difference between achieving a goal or not is dedication. Do something every day to achieve your goal — even if it is just 5 minutes of practice, or 60 seconds of mindful breathing, or sharing an inspirational quote with a friend. When cultivate a daily practice you learn to overcome obstacles and resistance, and reach your goals.
