My many students and friends who are gluten free, either for health reasons or by choice, definitely struggle to find nice places to eat out. So it was a pleasure when one of them recommended Niche, a 100% gluten free restaurant in Islington, near Sadlers Wells Theatre.

A lot of times gluten free gets lumped in with vegetarian, vegan, lactose intolerant, or other dietary options, but Niche doesn’t assume that because you don’t eat gluten you don’t enjoy a good burger, or a slice of cake with ice cream. It offers a great brunch

till 3PM most days, pre-theatre deals, and dinners ranging from steak and chips to superfood salads. It’s nice, contemporary British cuisine, without the pesky gluten.

I reckon it’s an ideal spot to accommodate mixed groups of people who want “real food” (e.g. not exclusively healthy!) as well as those who are very much interested in exclusively healthy food.

Here are a couple of my friend’s snaps of her lunch!
